Posted: Thursday, September 20, 2007

The Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong is recruiting Board Certified/Board Eligible Developmental-Behavioral or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Pediatricians.

SCDD is a federally designated University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and a Maternal and Child Health Bureau Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) interdisciplinary training program. Pediatricians participate in clinical service, research, and ACGME-accredited training of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Fellows, residents in pediatrics, internal medicine/pediatrics, family medicine, pediatric neurology, and rehabilitation medicine, along with medical students at all levels and a broad range of interdisciplinary trainees. SCDD houses the Andrew J. Kirch Developmental Services Center, providing interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment to over 3000 children and adolescents each year from a combined urban, suburban, and rural referral population of about 2 million. It also is the home of an active Autism Spectrum Disorders service program emphasizing behavioral interventions in inclusive environments. Funded research programs address Autism (an NIH-funded STAART Center), Down Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, methylmercury neurodevelopmental effects, and health care delivery and coordination.

Rochester is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of western New York State, offering four glorious seasons of participant and spectator sports. It has excellent cultural resources, being a center for theatre, music, dance, opera, and classic movies.
