Position Summary
These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. The Registered Nurse Educator serves as a consultant within an interdisciplinary team whose work is to provide training and technical assistance to community service providers for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Registered Nurse Educator will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for: (1) developing and presenting education to community registered and licensed practical nurses to assist them in meeting the mandates of the DC Developmental Disabilities Health and Wellness Standards; (2) planning and convening monthly nursing roundtables; (3) engaging in the conduct of IRB-approved research and evaluation activities (4) reading and preparing commentary for all Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) Mortality Reviews (5) participating in all DDA Mortality Review Committee meetings and assisting other team members in formulating recommendations (6) submitting data for monthly reports and (7) participating in project meetings.
Principal Accountabilities
80% effort
Plan and conduct nursing education for licensed nurses. Review the competencies of nurses subsequent to their education, and make recommendations for systemic changes needed to improve the quality of nursing services available to people with intellectual disabilities in the District of Columbia.

Actively participate on the DDA Mortality Review Committee, and provide nursing expertise to the deliberations of the committee. Interface with DDA staff and report progress or lack thereof within the DDA reporting systems. Collaborate with the Project Director and other team members to identify issues and trends.

Collaborate with the Project Director and Project Evaluator to serve as an expert reviewer for the conduct of evaluation studies related to health care.
2% effort
Participate in DDA or community-wide committees related to health care and health care access.
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
