The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a disability and health leader, with the creation of Public Health is for Everyone (www.phetoolkit.org), facilitation of the Learn the Signs. Act Early. (LTSAE) Network, and a national network of centers in every state and territory, including: University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Programs, and Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC). Create and implement capacity development activities and technical assistance for the AUCD network, under a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). AUCD's public health programs aim to strengthen capacity to carry out activities in the areas of developmental disabilities and health promotion for people living with a disability. Other health promotion activities involve creation of accessible health education information, support of coalitions, and training opportunities funded through foundation and other grant support.

The Program Manager position is full-time, located in Silver Spring, MD, and will work under the supervision of the Director of Public Health.

Required Competencies

  • Experience in providing technical assistance and consultation in public health and disability, including program and training curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through writing.
  • Demonstrated data management, progress report, and evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee a number of simultaneous activities that have multiple components.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with all constituents of AUCD and partners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using word processing, database and spreadsheet software, and using web tools to communicate and exchange information.

Responsibilities

  • Work with AUCD network, partners, and national work group to review, field test, revise, and disseminate public health workforce competences on including people living with disabilities.
  • Actively work to create cohesiveness across AUCD's public health programs through communication and technical assistance.
  • Develop and give presentations, training and training materials as requested regarding project activities and respond to questions from participating sites as needed.
  • Serve as liaison with project sites and other partners.
  • Write and develop progress report and project documentation to include evaluation and partner outreach plan.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and development of technical assistance events, meetings, webinars, and conference calls.
  • Provide information to the AUCD network and the general public as appropriate on project efforts through web postings, newsletters and electronic publications.
  • Represent the AUCD network as well as the cooperative agreement at meetings and conferences in different locations.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in human services, project management or provision of technical assistance. MPH, MS or MA in public health, disability, clinical or human services related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Research, training, direct service or technical assistance in public health or disability.
  • Experience with training health professionals and program curriculum development.
  • Grant, contract or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of UCEDD, LEND or other health and disability programs.
  • Basic knowledge of public health principles and grant process.
