Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is currently seeking an ideal candidate for Assistant Director for External Collaborations. The successful candidate will represent the DNALC "brand" and oversee a growing portfolio of high-level collaborations with organizations and "franchised" centers in the U.S. and abroad. This includes major new centers being developed in Suzhou, China and Mexico City. The successful candidate will become a member of an elite, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in modern biology education including the fields of molecular genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and DNA barcoding. This position demands a motivated, self-starter with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills, and collaborative spirit.

Additional Responsibilities include:
- Liaising with internal staff and external collaborators and consultants.
- Developing operating plans and budgets.
- Providing detailed training in laboratory management and quality control.
- Demonstrating instructional techniques for summer workshops, laboratory field trips, and in-school
   activities.
- Leading workshops and presentations for local constituencies.
- Organizing staff exchanges and residencies.
- Facilitating adaptation and translation of DNALC materials for local use.
- Assisting with project evaluation.
- Disseminating results in reports, conference abstracts, and publications.
- Developing and writing grants for new projects and programs.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in histotechnology, or a comparable discipline is required as well as a minimum of 10 years' experience as a histotechnician. Extensive training and experience in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, ISH is required. The ability to microscopically evaluate technical quality of histopathology sections; special stains and immunohistochemistry stains and controls is also required. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of staff and management, good organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills,the ability to plan/organize work and projects and meet deadlines.
