The Arc is the world's largest nonprofit, community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), including Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, cerebral palsy and other diagnoses. The Arc has a network of about 650 chapters across the country promoting and protecting the human rights of people with I/DD and actively supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. In addition to individual advocacy and public policy efforts at the local, state and national level, The Arc is the largest provider of services and supports for people with I/DD and their families.
Position Summary:
The Arc is seeking a full-time Web Administrator & Trainer who will support the organization's web presence and email mass marketing efforts, plus train non-technical staff to edit and administer WordPress websites.
This position is part of the organization's Online Communications team which is also comprised of one Web Designer and one Director of Digital Strategy & Online Services. The Online Communications team serves the web & email marketing needs of various teams within The Arc of the USA's office. This position will also provide web-related support to a number of chapters of The Arc who are part of The Arc's WordPress Multisite Network.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and administer websites that are part of a WordPress Multisite Network.
- Train colleagues to administer and edit content for websites within a WordPress Multisite Network.
- Administer thearc.org website and other websites that run on The Arc's NetCommunity CMS. This includes:
o Create or edit pages on the site, based on content that is created by other teams in the
organization.
o Manage a process for identifying and updating pages on the site that are out of date, and
coordinating with colleagues to update those pages.
o Setup and run analytics reports on web traffic to thearc.org.
o Managing passwords and administrative configurations for 3rd party tools and services that
integrate with thearc.org.
- Format, test, and send mass emails to The Arc's constituents.
- Setup and run analytics reports for web and mass email communications.
- Research and propose ways that The Arc could benefit from adopting new web-related tools or practices.
- Seek out inefficiencies in the way the organization maintains its web presence and propose methods for optimizing the processes & practices to reduce those inefficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Proficient with HTML and CSS. The position does not require knowledge of programming languages, but preference will go to candidates who are familiar with PHP, SQL and Javascript.
- At least 2 years of experience administering and configuring WordPress websites. Preference will go to candidates with experience managing a WordPress Multisite Network or a Blackbaud NetCommunity instance.
- At least 1 year of experience formatting emails for mass email marketing: editing emails in HTML, testing emails, running reports to show the efficacy of email marketing campaigns, etc.
- Ability to help non-technical colleagues solve problems around how to best format and present their content through a Content Management System.
- Experience training non-technical colleagues to edit and administer a WordPress site. Preference will go to applicants who have experience developing trainings.
- Experience configuring and running reports in Google Analytics: create funnels, event tracking, etc.
- Experience configuring and managing Google AdWords.
- Ability to learn new tasks and web-related tools quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and requests that come from various distinct teams in the organization.
- Basic ability to edit images using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or Fireworks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Familiarity with enterprise databases or CRMs. Preference will go to applicants familiar with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge.
- Strong communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
