Position Description Overview
Community Outreach Wisconsin (COW) is a group of unique, cutting-edge programs within the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at the Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The mission of the Waisman Center UCEDD is to support the full inclusion and self-determination of people with developmental disabilities and their families. COW strives to create model programs that are offered as best practice across Wisconsin. This position provides coordination and leadership for Community TIES [outreach behavioral consultation to children and adults with developmental disabilities (DD), severe emotional disturbance (SED), or physical disability (PD)], TIES Clinic (psychiatric clinic for children and adults with DD, SED and PD), Crisis Response Services, Community Training and Consultation, Wellness Inclusion Nursing, Living Our Vision (LOV) Dane, Sound Response, and Self-Directed Services (SDS). These programs currently contract with Dane County Human Services and work extensively with individuals and community teams supporting persons with developmental disabilities. This position will also have an ongoing role in identifying, developing and expanding new program opportunities (new populations, new services to existing and new populations, and new funding sources).

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required, preferably in Social Work, Special Education, Rehabilitation Psychology or related field.
  • More than six years' experience in working with persons with developmental disabilities (DD) in the following areas: developing and managing community programs for persons with DD; experience in supporting health and/or mental health needs of persons with DD; and experience supervising professionals from a variety of disciplines.

Principal Duties

  1. Keep current programs funded and on track; identify, develop and expand program opportunities (40%).
  2. Provide program and administrative leadership, supervision for program leaders, and coordination of COW (30%).
  3. Function as liaison to other University of Wisconsin-Madison academic departments and other post-secondary educational programs to provide field experience and internship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and to pursue other opportunities for collaboration that align with the purposes of the UCEDD (10%).
  4. Function as liaison to funding partners (10%).
  5. Budget oversight, administration and other duties as assigned (10%).
