TCDD Seeks Executive Director to Lead Organization, Austin TX
Posted: Wednesday, March 11, 2015The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) seeks an experienced, passionate, and strategic chief executive to lead the Austin-based organization as it continues to work to improve the lives of Texans with disabilities.
The Position
The Executive Director performs a wide range of highly advanced senior-level managerial work, including overseeing grant and staff activities, coordinating fiscal and administrative affairs, and managing personnel matters. The Executive Director is TCDD's lead public liaison with various external publics and he/she maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders in multiple arenas. This position coordinates the development of the Council's strategic state plan and assures compliance with state and federal regulations. The Executive Director works under the limited direction of the Council Chair.
The individual hired for this position will be committed to increasing and expanding opportunities for people with disabilities in Texas to be included in their communities, work in integrated settings for competitive wages, and make choices that affect their lives. The Executive Director will be knowledgeable of disability-related issues, including supports and services available at the state and federal level, as well as disability policy and the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act).
About TCDD
TCDD's mission is to create change so that all people with disabilities are fully included in their communities and exercise control over their own lives. TCDD awards grant funds to projects around the state that address a variety of issues, such as advocacy, community inclusion, education, employment, health and fitness, and self-determination. In addition to grants activities, the organization performs advocacy, planning, public information, and public policy activities. This is a remarkable leadership opportunity to build on TCDD's 40-year legacy of improving the lives of people with disabilities in Texas.
Based in Austin, Texas, TCDD is led by a 27-member Governor-appointed Council (governing board) and a staff of 17 professionals. The organization's annual budget is $4.8 million and approximately 70% ($3.4 million) is awarded to fund over 50 grants throughout the state each year. The new Executive Director will have the opportunity to work with the Council and staff to develop the next five-year strategic state plan.

Salary & Benefits
The Executive Director is a full-time position with a starting salary of $83,991-$111,289 with potential for salary growth (B28 Salary Group).
