JOB SUMMARY:

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a central service unit within Retention Services/Campus Life. The DRC consults with the campus community to promote welcoming environments and facilitate equal usability for students with disabilities in their academic courses, campus services, student programs and activities. The DRC collaborates with students to identify potential barriers to accessibility and eliminate them by promoting inclusive design, determining and providing reasonable accommodations, and assessing efficacy.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Retention Services, the Director of the DRC is responsible for the administration of the multi-function operations of the DRC. The incumbent acts as a campus leader to promote inclusive design and practices that reduce the need for individual disability related accommodations. The DRC Director serves as a primary resource to the campus community regarding student programmatic access as mandated by state and federal laws and serves on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Officer Advisory Committee led by the campus ADA Compliance Officer.

The Director is expected to work at a high level of autonomy and exercise independent judgment, where appropriate, to identify and resolve problems and challenges. The Director serves as a campus champion and expert providing analysis and recommendations on the status of functions and emerging issues through ongoing periodic meetings and reports to campus leaders and offices including: Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Office of the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, Office of Campus Counsel, Campus Life/Dean of Students and Retention Services.
