Munroe-Meyer Institute, one of seven UNMC academic units, is a premier federally designated University Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. MMI supports the independence, productivity, and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by providing graduate and post-doctoral education, advanced clinical interdisciplinary education, research, service and technical assistance. MMI's PT Department is one of 15 Departments and programs. Departmental research resources include a suite of labs that are equipped with state-of-art equipment (i.e., motion analysis, EMG, force plates, fNIRS, EEG, etc.) that is currently being used for clinical gait analysis and motor behavior related research.

Position Description

  • 12-month Health Professions (tenure track) appointment.
  • Lead and manage a Department of 20+ staff who provide early intervention, school-based, medically-related outpatient, and interdisciplinary clinic PT services for individuals across the lifespan with wide array of developmental diagnoses.
  • Oversee and support entry level pediatric curriculum in UNMC PT education programs and an accredited ABPTRFE clinical residency program.
  • Opportunity to foster the development of a nationally recognized graduate program in rehabilitation sciences.
  • Opportunity to strengthen and broaden the Departmental research agenda, including leading the search and hiring of additional faculty position(s).
  • Faculty rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Start-up funding for program enhancement negotiable.
  • Reports to Director of MMI

Qualifications
Required

  • Licensed or eligible for physical therapist licensure in the State of Nebraska; must become licensed in the State of Nebraska upon hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice, academic or clinical coordination.

Preferred

  • ABPTS Board Pediatric Certified Specialist (PCS) or Neurological Certified Specialist (NCS).
  • Earned academic doctorate (e.g., PhD, EdD, DHS, DPH, or DSc).
  • Emerging or established record of scholarly activity.
  • Experience with post-secondary education.
