Associate Director for Learning Assessment - Provost Office - The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, Tufts University, Medford, MA

This position may require some evening and weekend hours to run Provost Events.
The Associate Director will contribute to the advancement of teaching, learning, and educational innovations through consultations with faculty and development and implementation of programming to assist faculty and departments in the assessment of student learning outcomes. The Associate Director will lead the creation and analysis of assessment tools to identify and measure high impact practices at Tufts. Additionally, the Associate Director will be part of a dynamic team of professionals engaged in faculty development. Ideally the applicant will be familiar with the literature on assessment of learning, new practices, and learning analytic tools.
- Collaborates with a wide variety of college specific faculty for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining learning assessment services and programs especially in the area of documenting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
- Provides leadership and coordination for University efforts in the development of academic assessment systems
- Evaluates policies, procedures, and current practices that are relevant to CELT programs for the purpose of ensuring that academic programs and services effectively meet faculty needs to promote teaching excellence
- Facilitates and participates in CELT meetings, committees, workshops, seminars etc. for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a CELT representative
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials in both manual and electronic formats for the purpose of documenting learning outcomes providing written reference, and/or conveying information
- Researches a variety of topics for the purpose of developing new and/or revising existing programs and strategic planning outcomes for learning assessment
Basic Requirements:
- PhD in social sciences, education, statistical analysis (both quantitative and qualitative) or related field
- 2-5 years experience in a higher education setting in learning assessment
- Experience in designing and implementing practices for direct and indirect measure of student learning in higher education
- Ability to coordinate and develop appropriate opportunities for faculty training on issues of assessment and the documentation of student learning
- Experience with consultation to faculty and academic units in developing measurable student learning outcomes
- Experience in assisting faculty and chairs with the alignment of course and program outcomes
- Knowledge of the use of "best practices" in assessment and data to improve student learning
- Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board protocols and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations across campus including faculty, administrators, and staff
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment including professional schools
- A creative and motivated self-starter who can develop and institute new ideas from the field
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Record of partnerships with appropriate department such as the Office of Institutional Research and Evaluation to promote student learning
