The Department: The CSUN Art Department has over 900 students majoring in Art, 24 full-time faculty, 60 part-time faculty. Offers BA and MA degrees in visual arts, art education and art history, as well as the MFA degree. Qualifications: By time of appointment, an MFA in Art is required; MA in Art with professional experience may be considered for equivalency; emphasis in Photography and/or Video required. Professional experience in Photography and Video and two years teaching experience at college or university level highly desired. Demonstrated experience and continued commitment to working with a diverse student population is required. Ideal candidates will be exhibiting, published, and/or commercial artists with the ability to teach technical skills, including digital applications and lighting. Candidates should have teaching competency in both Photography and Video, ability to develop curriculum, and working knowledge of contemporary Photography/Video discourse. Professional artwork and student artwork should demonstrate the applicant's interest and proficiency in teaching digital photography and video to majors and non-majors.

Responsibilities: Faculty responsibilities include teaching digital photography and video to undergraduate and graduate students. Assist in development and growth of the photography/video area, including curriculum. Participate in MFA & MA programs. Actively participate in student recruitment, advisement, program promotion and exhibition of student work. Build professional partnerships for department funding, student internships and job placement. Serve on committees in the Department, College and University. Continue creative/professional work and exhibition. CSUN is a Learning Centered University. The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students to graduate.

If including video, please limit clips to 1-2 minutes with not more than 5 minutes total for professional artwork and 3 minutes total for student artwork. In later phases of the search process, applicants may be requested to provide verification of terminal degrees, licenses and certificates.
