The Department: The CSUN Art Department has over 900 students majoring in Art, 24 full time faculty, 60 part-time faculty. Offers BA and MA degrees in visual arts, art education and art history, as well as, the MFA degree. Qualifications: MFA in a related discipline is preferred or BA, BFA with demonstrated significant professional experience may be considered. College-level teaching experience is desirable with a minimum of three years professional full-time experience working as a Game Artist in AAA/Indie Game Development or relevant experience in the Animation and Visual Effects industries. Application materials should demonstrate a wide range of technical capabilities, artistic competency, and mastery of one or more areas within Game Animation production such as Asset Creation, Game App Development, Environment Artist/Designer, Level Design, Lighting, Animation, Rigging, Compositing or Modeling. Working knowledge of 3D animation software required with game engine and game app development software desired. Should have ability to self-train on new software and teach a range of animation and game animation courses.

Responsibilities: Teach introductory through advanced animation courses focusing on Animation and Game Animation. Collaborate with Art Department faculty and faculty from other departments on curriculum and program development in Animation and Game Animation Design. Supervise student internships, lab techs and the Art Department animation club. Actively participate in student recruitment, advisement, program promotion and exhibition of student work. Build professional partnerships for department funding, student internships and job placement. Serve on committees in the Department, College and University. Continue creative/professional work and exhibition. CSUN is a Learning Centered University. The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students to graduate.
