Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Inc. is a faith-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire selfreliance, dignity and hope through health and human service.

We are looking for a talented Registered Nurse (RN) who will provide program support and direct care to individuals for minor illnesses and injuries, and make referrals to other medical professionals and facilities as appropriate. The RN will participate in ISP planning and monitoring as needed.

A success candidate will have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and registration and license (RN) to practice nursing in the District of Columbia and two years of med/surgical experience during the last 36 months.  Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Registration and license to practice nursing in the District of Columbia (RN License).

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-onone and small group situations to customers, individuals, and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
