The University of Illinois at Chicago - School of Public Health is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor in Community Health Sciences with a focus on Maternal and Child Health (MCH).

This is a tenure-track faculty position in Maternal and Child Health at the entry-'mid/ level assistant' or 'early associate' professor rank.

Key Responsibilities:

Faculty responsibilities include establishing/maintaining a funded program of research, teaching graduate and professional courses in MCH and/or CHS), advising and mentoring graduate and professional students, serving on doctoral, college and campus committees, and developing and maintaining community partnerships for research and practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree earned prior to the hiring date in community or population health (in one or more areas across the life course), public health, epidemiology, health or social/behavioral sciences or a closely related field
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and potential
  • Strong potential for graduate level teaching and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications:

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • A background in nursing, nutrition, health sciences, implementation science, health services research, health equity and disparities, social justice, women's studies, social work or other closely related discipline
  • An MPH degree 
  • 4-6 years of post-doctoral experience as faculty or in advanced practice
  • An established research program or agenda that addresses the health of women, children, and/or families
  • Evidence of obtaining independent external research funding
  • Experience in MCH/PH practice and with an interest/experience in workforce development and/or management and organizational development
  • Experience in graduate teaching and using technology for graduate and continuing education
  • A life course approach to research and practice

The UIC Maternal and Child Health Program is located within the Community Health Sciences Division of the School of Public Health.  The Program was established in 1983 and has been funded by the DHHS/HRSA/Maternal and Child Health Bureau to offer graduate and continuing education as well as technical assistance to MCH agencies to improve the health and well-being of women, children and families. We offer a concentration in maternal and child health as well as a program in MCH Epidemiology at the MPH level, specialization in MCH for PhD students, and a concentration in MCH Epidemiology for PhD students, jointly with the Epidemiology Division. While this faculty member will be focused on working with the maternal and child health program they will also be fully engaged and integrated with teaching and research activities within the CHS Division.
