The University of Massachusetts Medical School and Commonwealth Medicine seek a dynamic and dedicated Executive Director to lead the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center (Shriver Center), a highly respected, interdisciplinary center with a rich history of supporting research, education, and services aimed at improving the quality of life for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to provide vision and strategic leadership to a vital organization well positioned to continue to make an impact in the IDD community.

Since its founding in 1970, Shriver Center has recognized that IDD are complex phenomena that require an integrated, interdisciplinary approach. As such, their efforts provide support to persons with IDD as well as their families, service providers, researchers, students, and educators. It is a complex organization working on translational and applied research, providing support to state agencies, creating new technologies to improve the lives of persons with IDD, and providing educational resources. They have advanced important and far-reaching policy, research, and advocacy initiatives locally and nationally.

Reporting jointly to the Chief Medical Officer of Commonwealth Medicine and the Dean of the School of Medicine, the Executive Director will be part of CWM's senior management team and will oversee annual grant revenues of approximately $6 million. Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. and/or an M.D. and have an active research portfolio. Desirable candidates will have a distinguished research record and a strong commitment to the public service missions of UMMS, CWM, and the Shriver Center.
