Director, College of Health Sciences, Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) Position #0802

The University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Director of the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND). WIND is a member of the national network of University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). WIND works to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, professionals, and University of Wyoming students through education, training, community services, research and evaluation, and information dissemination.
The Director's position carries with it a number of administrative, programmatic, representational, and coordinative functions and responsibilities. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences.
Position responsibilities include: Provide vision and leadership in carrying out the mission, core functions, and federal requirements of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) in compliance with legislation and related regulations; maintain collaborative relationships with the State DD Council, the State P&A, and other state agencies, organizations, and community service providers; hire and manage the faculty and staff necessary to support the functions and purposes of the UCEDD and allocate adequate time to carry out activities related to the core functions; prepare and submit the annual report to Administration on Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (AIDD); oversee participation in National Information Reporting System (NIRS) database and the production of annual reports, 5-year core grant application, and other grant applications; prepare and implement the 5-year strategic plan; consult with the Consumer Advisory Committee on the strategic plan; obtain funding to carry out research and development-related activities; and work collaboratively across disciplines to develop joint research, training, service, and technical assistance opportunities.
Required qualifications include: Demonstrated expertise, leadership, and commitment in the field of developmental disabilities; leadership and vision in carrying out the mission, core functions, and federal requirements of the UCEDD; experience managing grants and contracts; ability to leverage public and private funds; and eligible for approval by AIDD to assume the role of Principal Investigator of the Core UCEDD grant through AIDD. Applicants must be qualified to be a senior (Associate Professor or Professor) faculty member in one of the units that supports the UCEDD. Minimum qualification is a PhD or terminal degree in a discipline related to developmental disabilities. The position is a nine-month academic faculty position with the possibility of additional summer salary. Tenure in an appropriate University of Wyoming department is available to those with appropriate credentials. Previous higher education experience and developmental disabilities teaching and scholarship at a university level are required.
Preferred qualifications include: Scholarship or teaching background in the field of disability studies, and experience growing academic programs at undergraduate and graduate levels.
