The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson invites inquiries, nominations and expressions of interest for the role of Chair, Department of Family and Community Medicine.

The University of Arizona's Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) is an academic department, which is nationally and internationally known for its research on tobacco cessation, obesity and diabetes, and for community responsive programs of health research. FCM is also renowned for innovative models of care for Native American, Hispanic and vulnerable populations, including a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, a mobile health program and clinical programs focusing on diabetes, obesity and serious mental illness. With a faculty of more than 50, the department offers two residency programs in family medicine and fellowships in sports medicine and integrative medicine, and has a robust presence in an innovative medical school curriculum. The UA College of Medicine is part of the Arizona Health Sciences Center, an educational, research, and patient-care network which includes five colleges, the University of Arizona Health Network, and 23 centers and institutes dedicated to research and patient care. In the midst of historic change, the College of Medicine's vision is to be a guiding force for health and well-being, and to help the Arizona Health Sciences Center become one of the nation's premier academic health centers.

The successful candidate will be a scientist and an outstanding, nationally recognized leader with a substantial record of research, teaching, clinical, and administrative accomplishments in family and/or community medicine. He or she will have the in-depth knowledge and ability to effectively lead physicians, researchers, and educators while embracing the importance of quality and financial sustainability. Integrity, intellect, the ability to work effectively with numerous stakeholders, and a vision of how family and community medicine will thrive clinically, scientifically and financially in an age of health reform are essential.

Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent medical degree; be board certified in Family Medicine and eligible for medical licensure in Arizona; and meet University of Arizona criteria for appointment to a tenured senior level faculty position.
