Educational Support Services Director - PCE 4 - UI REACH Program, The University of Iowa

Position: 
Manage research, evaluation, and program and professional development activities for the UI REACH (Realizing Educational and Career Hopes) Program in the College of Education; teach one course per semester for the Department of Teaching and Learning, and participate in departmental activities. UI REACH is a two-year certificate program for 18-25 year old students with intellectual disabilities. Students live in the residence hall, take courses on campus, and have internships in the community. Transition and consultative support services are provided after students graduate from UI REACH.

Required qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.                                                                                              
           o Will consider ABD with verification of completion within 6 months.
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work or academic environment, including the ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations. Typical experience is 1-3 years.
  • Direct teaching or counseling experience. Typical experience is 1-3 years.
  • Successful experience implementing quantitative and/or qualitative research in special education or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional experience with individuals with disabilities.
  • Facility with technology and office suite software.

Desired qualifications:

  • Successful record of grant writing, publication, and attracting external funding.
  • Experience (typical experience is 1-3 years) in administrative, supervisory, or other program management functions.
  • Expertise in program evaluation.
  • Experience organizing and/or leading professional development activities.
  • Experience working in a postsecondary education or college/university.
