The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the State Autism Program Manager position of in the Health Promotion/MCH.

Under limited supervision from the Children with Special Healthcare Needs Director, this position manages the Statewide Autism Strategy.

Job Description:

  • Provides oversight, guidance and input into the planning, development, and implementation of the state pediatric autism strategy.
  • Works with partners to improve autism programs and services statewide
  • Participates in the annual MCH Block Grant application
  • Serves as the liaison with internal and external early intervention partners
  • Manages the contract process for autism services
  • Assures compliance with state and federal guidelines and requirements
  • Ensures provision of technical assistance, training, and consultation to autism stakeholders
  • Manages an annual program budget
  • Provides state level leadership for on-going program development, management, and evaluation
  • Manages the planning, coordination, development and implementation of long-range goals and objectives
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years' experience managing professional level staff

OR

Six years related professional experience, two years of which was managing professional level staff,

OR

A combination of education and experience at agency discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Subject matter expert in the field of pediatric autism, developmental assessments and early intervention
  • Knowledge of IDEA Part C and other applicable federal and state laws governing programs for children with disabilities
  • Experience in policy and program development, implementation, evaluation and program management at a district, regional, state or national level
  • Experience with grant development
  • Experience with program and budget monitoring
