Psychologist (PVL 78922) - Language Processes Lab, Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Education:  Ph.D. in Psychology; experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Licensure/certification:  Licensure as a psychologist in the State of Wisconsin or eligible for Wisconsin license is desirable. Supervised post-doctoral hours needed for licensure may be available.

Appointment Percentage:  75% - 100%

Full Time Salary Rate:  minimum $50,000 (Annual); depending on qualifications

Qualifications:

At least one year experience working with young children and individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is required.

Prior experience working with children in a research setting is highly desirable. Prior training and experience in administering the following standardized assessments is highly desirable: Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, 3rd edition; Mullen Scales of Early Learning; Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, 2nd edition; Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd edition; and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised, Childhood Autism Rating Scale. Research reliability on the ADOS and ADI-R is highly desirable.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide autism diagnostic evaluations and developmental testing for participants in two research projects. One project examines lexical processing in toddlers with autism spectrum disorder, directed by Drs. Susan Ellis Weismer, Jenny Saffran, and Jan Edwards. The other project examines executive function and language in school-age children with typical and atypical language development, directed by Drs. Susan Ellis Weismer and Margarita Kaushanskaya.

The psychologist is also responsible for sharing evaluation results, including a DSM-5 ASD diagnosis, if appropriate, with the child's parents/guardians and making general treatment recommendations and writing written evaluation reports. Additional duties include administering and scoring standardized assessments, recruitment of participants, data analysis, and dissemination of study results.
