New Jersey Positive Behavior Support in Schools (NJ PBSIS) is pleased to announce a position opening on the state team. NJ PBSIS is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs in collaboration with The Boggs Center, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and funded by IDEA, Part B.
The Training and Consultation Specialist is responsible for the delivery of training and consultation support to public New Jersey schools on the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
Qualifications:
Eligible candidates will have a Master's Degree in Education or Special Education or a related field plus two (2) years of experience implementing Positive Behavior Support in public schools; or a Doctorate Degree in Education, Special Education or a related field plus one (1) year of experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling), plus four (4) years of experience.
Knowledge of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework is required. Prior experience with public schools is required. Experience with urban and/or economically disadvantaged schools is preferred. SWIS certification or availability to become SWIS certified is required. The position requires state-wide travel to schools and training sites.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Participation in duties related to working within a team structure: preparing for trainings, training set up / clean up (which includes lifting and transporting training materials), maintenance of the PBSIS suite, responsiveness to and participation in team discussions, using the Google calendar, respecting co-workers, using time efficiently, familiarity with curriculum and product materials, and coordination with NJ DOE-OSEP.
- Maintaining School Specific Documentation: procuring designated products from schools, maintaining up to date files and electronic folders for schools, maintaining up to date documentation for technical assistance logs and service delivery data.
- Providing technical assistance to schools: maintaining regular contact with schools through email, phone and on-site support as prescribed by the NJ PBSIS technical assistance protocol; providing solution-focused assistance that advances schools' implementation of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework; participating in and collaborating with PBSIS team members to problem solve and develop technical assistance supports.
- Delivering training on the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework: Uses a high quality training style that is engaging and informed; delivers training content as designed by the NJ PBSIS Director; demonstrates the use of an agile training style that adjusts/differentiates to the needs of participants across training sites; demonstrates a technical knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers' regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
