Job Description 

Director of the physical therapy department is responsible for:

  • Clinical: leading a team of 20+ talented therapists who provide early intervention, school based therapy, medically related outpatient pediatric therapy services, and interdisciplinary clinic services. Our diverse caseload and service delivery models are designed to develop clinical specialists in the field of pediatric physical therapy.
  • Training: building the capacity/supports of PT department staff to provide: entry level pediatric curriculum in the Division of PT Education, graduate courses, clinical affiliations for PT students, and an accredited ABPTS Pediatric Clinical residency program.
  • Research: Providing support for an established research team working within a suite of labs equipped with state of the art motion analysis systems, EMG, Biodex, and other equipment for research projects focused on motor learning and motor development questions.

Requirements:

  • Post-professional doctorate with academic and administrative experience
  • An established record of teaching excellence, substantial research at the university level, and published research in professional journals that would allow appointment at the rank of Associate Professor
  • An established record of grant writing/funding
  • Active participation/leadership roles in the profession of physical therapy or relevant organizations.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of Pediatric Physical Therapy; pediatric clinical specialty desirable
  • Credentialed PT, eligible for licensure to practice in the state of NE
  • Experience with: academic mission, post-secondary education; graduate coursework/committees; and pediatric PT residency program
  • Team builder interested in working collaboratively/creatively across disciplines to develop meaningful programs for children/families with disabilities
