Daline Derival Tells All About her Public Health Career (VT LEND)

Daline Derival, M.P.H., completed UVM's Post-Baccalaureate Premedical program in 2014. She is Program Evaluator and Public Health Core Faculty member for the VT-LEND program, whichprovides graduate-level interdisciplinary training, services, and care to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents with disabilities.

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (TN UCEDD, IDDRC, LEND) LEND Training Program Receives Supplemental Funding to Address Trainee Diversity

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (TN UCEDD, IDDRC, LEND) Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Training Program will focus efforts on increasing racial and ethnic diversity among its pool of long-term trainees thanks to a grant from AUCD's Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center on Autism and Developmental Disabilities. The supplemental funding will allow the program to forge deeper partnerships with historically black colleges and universities, to build awareness of the LEND program among underrepresented minority students who have been accepted to professional schools, and to foster greater interest in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities among undergraduate minority students.

High School Students Learn About Health Care Careers from Iowa LEND Trainees

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education programs are for students in grades K-12 and according to STEM Connector data, females are about 25% less likely to be interested in STEM fields than males. University of Iowa Health Care (UIHC) staff and Iowa LEND Trainees are trying to change that!

Introducing "Tuesdays with Liz: Disability Policy for All"

"Tuesdays with Liz: Disability Policy for All" is a brief weekly video spot produced by AUCD featuring policy staffer Liz Weintraub discussing current disability policy issues. These videos are a compliment to AUCD's popular written publication of "AUCD Disability Policy News In Brief" and are designed to make oftentimes complex policy issues more easy for everyone to understand.

The Institute on Disability's Center for START Services and NH LEND Program Announce a New Partnership

The Institute on Disability (IOD) at the University of New Hampshire is pleased to announce a unique graduate-level interdisciplinary partnership between the Center for START Services and the NH Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Program (NH LEND). "This relationship allows future leaders to develop a broader understanding of what is needed to promote positive health and mental health practices. We're honored to be part of this important partnership," says Dr. Joan Beasley, Director of the Center for START Services, a program within the IOD. NH LEND program is an intensive, nine-month graduate-level training program focusing on neurodevelopmental disabilities in children and youth. The Center for START Services' New Hampshire program provides technical support and frameworks to help better meet the mental health needs of individual with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
