4 UCEDDs and LENDs Receive Grants from the Special Hope Foundation Catalytic Community Outreach Model: Comprehensive Health Care for Adults IDD Grants
The Special Hope Foundation, in collaboration with AADMD, is pleased to announce that four universities within the UCEDD/LEND network were selected to each receive funding through the Special Hope Foundation's grant program. These grants will support the organizations within their projects that promote comprehensive health care for adults with developmental disabilities by raising awareness at the healthcare student level and by supporting their communities. Iowa Prevention of Disabilities Policy Council (IA UCEDD)Hosts Successful Policy Summit
The Iowa Prevention of Disabilities Policy Council (Prevention Council) hosted a day-long, statewide disability policy summit near Des Moines. Entitled "Preventing Disabilities and Ensuring Access to Care," the Summit attracted nearly 130 government officials, consumers, family members, and private and public agency representatives. Project HEAL (MD UCEDD) Partners with RE/MAX Preferred
Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), a community-based program of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute launched a new partnership with a RE/MAX Preferred in Baltimore. Alaska LEND Family Advisory Council Parent Training Series
The Alaska LEND Family Advisory Council (LFAC) was formed May 2013 to provide guidance to LEND on all family components of the program. The group of 9 parents meet monthly to work on activities. One goal for this year is to offer a parent training series. The LFAC used a survey to identify a list of possible topics, and then picked the top 4 to offer for this year. Read more...
