This Award is presented to an Association member or group in recognition of exhibited leadership and commitment to advancing programs and practices aimed toward increasing the diversity, cultural, and/or linguistic competencies within a Center and the Network as a whole, and for significant contributions to further the cause of understanding the diverse needs of families seeking disability services.

"Dr. Wheeler is the Associate Director of the USC UCEDD where she has worked in a variety of roles since 1980. She was actively involved in the Task Force on Equity and Diversity under the California Senate Sub Committee on Autism to address evidence of racial disparities in California's DD service system. Dr. Wheeler is a national leader and pioneer in promoting diversity in the disability field. She richly deserves this recognition for her life time of work."
