While national data derived from surveys or broad-scale evaluation efforts offer a "big picture" of what higher education is offering to students with ID, it can be difficult to get a sense of what is really happening on the ground. To address this issue, Think College staff visited five PSE programs to bring additional detail and nuance to what we know about PSE programs serving students with ID. This monograph describes the background and structure of these PSE programs, and identifies promising practices that were observed or reported to have a positive effect on student outcomes. Our hope is that the identification of these innovative/emerging practices can serve as a springboard to promote further policy, program, and resource development in order to expand postsecondary education opportunities and options for individuals with intellectual disability.
