AUCD Hosts 'Evidence and Artifacts: Facing Autism' During 2012 Conference

Evidence and Artifacts: Facing Autism is a long-term photographic project documenting the growing number of individuals, families, and invested teachers, therapists, advocates, doctors, and researchers on the front lines fighting the debilitating characteristics of autism spectrum disorders. Facing Autism is both a call to action, and a way to honor those who are rising every day to the challenges presented by autism.

Christopher M. Gauthiér is an Assistant Professor of Art in Photography at Utah State University since 2008. Prior to coming to Utah State University, Christopher taught at Jackson State University, a Historically Black College and University in Jackson, Mississippi. Christopher is an actively exhibiting artist, with work in permanent collections around the world. His most recent project, Evidence and Artifacts has stimulated dialogue about the impact of environmental insults on human health and development. Selections from Evidence and Artifacts: Facing Autism have been exhibited at Johns Hopkins University and for two consecutive years at the US Autism and Asperger Association World Conference. Autism advocacy became a personal imperative when he became aware of the link between his environmental concerns and his children's autism.
