When it comes to improving the lives of people with disabilities,
sometimes data can speak louder than words.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) introduces Disability and Health Data System (DHDS). Disability and Health Data System is an online interactive system that helps quickly translate state-level, disability-specific data into information that can be used by state health departments, national disability and health organizations, policymakers, researchers, educators, and others. For the first time, state-level disability data are housed in a central, online location and include timely, consistent ways to compare data by state or region.

Use Disability and Health Data System to:

• Research differences in health among population groups
• Analyze trends
• Recognize new health and wellness opportunities for people with disabilities
• Maintain fiscally-responsible, evidence-based programs, services and policies
• Garner support for programs, services and policies
• Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration

Disability and Health Data System allows you to stratify and compare more than 70 different health measures using Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data from 2004-2010. You can view dynamic reports that display data through four interactive components: map, trend line, bar chart, and data table. With a customizable format and graphic representation of complex data, you can easily identify trends and patterns of health disparities in your state, region and throughout the country.
