Autism Distance Education Parent Training (ADEPT): Module Available on-line in English and Spanish

The Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at the UC Davis MIND Institute announces the availability of the Autism Distance Education Parent Training (ADEPT) Program's web-based module on Strategies for Teaching Functional Skills.  This is the first in a series of on-line training modules for parents of children with autism and other disabilities.  The training, available in both English and Spanish, includes the following lessons:

  • Lesson 1: The ABC's of Skills Teaching
  • Lesson 2: Understanding Positive Reinforcement
  • Lesson 3: Using Reinforcement Effectively
  • Lesson 4: Planning and Preparation
  • Lesson 5: Creating a Task Analyses
  • Lesson 6: Prerequisite Skills
  • Lesson 7: Prompting and Fading Prompt for Independence
  • Lesson 8: Chaining Skills into Functional Routines
  • Lesson 9: Setting the Stage for Learning
  • Lesson 10: Dealing with and Correcting  Errors
