Carmit Shpigelman, PhD, Post Doctoral Research Associate and ELA Scholar, Joins IDHD

Carmit Shpigelman received her PhD from the University of Haifa, Israel. Her dissertation dealt with empowerment of persons with disabilities through computer-mediated communication. She explored an electronic mentoring intervention program for social, emotional and vocational support for persons with a wide range of disabilities. Her interdisciplinary research is related to special education, rehabilitation, mentoring, assistive technology and cyberpsychology. She would like to increase the vocational opportunities and promote the participation of persons with disabilities in t heir communities through self-determination and self-advocacy practices, mentoring and computer-mediated environments, supported by research results using quantitative and qualitative methods.
