2010 NTDC Council Elections

Three officer positions within the National Training Directors Council (NTDC) are currently up for election. One individual has been nominated for each role, described below.

Each member of the Council is asked to enter his/her vote for this group of candidates. After reviewing the biographical material submitted by candidates, please follow the link above to vote. If you receive a message that the that the survey is full or have any other technical difficulties, contact NTDC past-president Steve Koch. Results will be announced shortly after the close of voting and new officers will be installed at the 2010 AUCD Conference. Thank you!
NTDC Candidates
Nominee for Chair
The Council Chair position is a three-year term beginning at the AUCD 2010 Conference and running through the fall 2013 AUCD Conference. This is consistent with the term of office of the AUCD Board of Directors, so that he or she may function as a representative to that Board for an entire term. The Council Chair will conduct all meetings of the Council, as well as those of the Steering Committee.

Toby Long, PhD, Children's National Medical Center LEND & Georgetown UCEDD (DC)
Dr. Long is the Associate Dean for Disabilities Studies, within the School of Continuing Studies; an Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics; and the Training Director of the Center for Child and Human Development, UCEDD at Georgetown University; and the DC-LEND program at Children's National Medical Center. She is also a faculty member at the Krannert Graduate School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis, and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Dr. Long is the recipient of a variety of research and training grants, and is an internationally known speaker on service delivery to children with disabilities and special health care needs. She is the author of multiple publications, and was recently named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow from the American Physical Therapy Association.
Nominee for Vice Chair
The Council Vice Chair position is a three-year term beginning at the AUCD 2010 Conference and running through the fall 2013 AUCD Conference. The Vice Chair will pursue those duties as designated by the Chair and the Steering Committee.

Paula Rabidoux, PhD, Nisonger Center LEND & UCEDD (OH)
Dr. Rabidoux is currently the Director of Training and Outreach at the Nisonger Center at Ohio State University and the Co Director of the LEND training grant. She has been the Speech and Language Pathology faculty member on LEND since 1999. Dr. Rabidoux's clinical and research interests are in communicative literacy and social language use in children and adults with disabilities. She developed an inclusive literacy model that serves as the theoretical foundation the Next Chapter Book Clubs (a social literacy experience designed for adolescents and adults with intellectual disabilities). Current research interests include investigations into the nature of pragmatic difficulties among children with ASD and measuring pragmatics among children with ASD and Williams syndrome.
Nominee for Secretary
The Council Secretary position is a three-year term beginning at the AUCD 2010 Conference and running through the fall 2013 AUCD Conference. The Secretary will maintain minutes of all general and Steering Committee meetings and will make distribution to the membership at large.

Jessica Howell, MPH, Center for Leadership in Disability UCEDD (GA)
Ms. Howell coordinates interdisciplinary training for graduate and undergraduate students at the Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) at Georgia State University. Ms. Howell has a career interest in health promotion and education, in particular, infusing public health curriculum with the perspective of people with disabilities living well. Before joining CLD, Ms. Howell worked for Georgia's protection and advocacy organization and pursued customized employment initiatives for people with disabilities.
