Jeffrey Capizzano

Jeffrey Capizzano is currently serving as Senior Policy Advisor for Early Childhood Development and Education in the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In his role, Jeff provides policy and substantive support to the Office of Head Start, the Child Care Bureau, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Inter-Departmental Liaison for Early Childhood Development. Prior to joining HHS, Jeff was Vice President, Research and Public Policy for Teaching Strategies, a developer of curriculum, assessment, and professional development services for teachers of children birth through age five. From 1997 to 2005, Jeff was a Research Associate in the Population Studies Center at the Urban Institute, a non-profit research organization in Washington, DC. He is considered a national expert in early childhood policy. He has been a guest on National Public Radio and his research findings have been cited in the Washington Post and Christian Science Monitor, as well as reports published by the Brookings Institution. He is a graduate of Villanova University and the University of Virginia and lives in Washington, DC with his wife and 18 month-old son.
