AAP Recognizes Child Health Day on October 5th

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) will honor and recognize Child Health Day this year by focusing on an issue close to its heart, and that of all the children, families and professionals it serves--the family-centered "medical home." The Academy will celebrate by increasing awareness and understanding of what a "medical home" is and why every child deserves one.

The AAP has activities planned and materials available to celebrate why "Every Child Deserves a Medical Home". Child Health Day activities are being coordinated jointly by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Center for Medical Home Implementation, a program of the AAP funded by a cooperative agreement with HRSA's Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

In recognition of Child Health Day on October 5th, the National Center for Medical Home Implementation will be hosting a webinar featuring faculty speaking from both the provider and parent perspectives on the meaning and value of medical home. A brief history of medical home will be showcased as part of the webinar. Information regarding tools, resources, and technical assistance available through the National Center for Medical Home Implementation will also be featured.
