2009 APHA CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCEMENT

AUCD in collaboration with the Disability Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) is excited to announce five new $1000 conference travel scholarship opportunities to attend the 2009 APHA Annual Meeting from November 7-11, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA. These travel scholarships are open to AUCD Network Trainees as well as other graduate students involved in the work of National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities programs and initiatives including State Disability and Health grantees. Students need to be currently enrolled in a graduate program and be part of an AUCD LEND, UCEDD, or IDDRC or other university working in the disability and health areas. Scholarship recipients will have the exceptional opportunity to attend the scientific and poster sessions of the APHA Disability Section and the APHA Annual Meeting.

The APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is a wonderful and important Public Health Educational Forum, drawing about 10,000+ participants nationally and internationally.  This year's APHA Annual Meeting theme, "Water and Public Health: the 21st Century Challenge", explores water as a limited resource and the latest public health challenges. The Disability Section will also have a Section meeting and a series of breakout sessions that will address a range of disability and health topics. This is a great opportunity to learn and discuss critical issues in public health and disabilities.
