ITAC: Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center on Autism and Developmental Disabilities
May 8, 2009
AUCD is pleased to announce the availability of the new Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (ITAC). Funded by cooperative agreement from the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau, ITAC is one of two technical assistance centers working with programs funded under the Combating Autism Act. Visit the new ITAC website at www.aucd.org/itac.
ITAC aims to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents who have, or are at risk for developing, autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other developmental disabilities. ITAC provides technical assistance to interdisciplinary training programs (LENDs and DBPs) to better train professionals to utilize valid and reliable screening tools to diagnose or rule out and provide evidence-based interventions for children with ASD and other developmental disabilities.
ITAC's new website contains numerous news, resources, and information tailored for LEND and DPB programs. Individuals in the medical and public health communities and families of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities may also find the resources of ITAC to be helpful. ITAC and its projects were designed in collaboration with federal staff, program directors, and families of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
Questions and suggestions regarding ITAC should be directed to Crystal Pariseau.
