A primary function of UAP is to train future leaders in the DD field by providing in-depth, long-term training experiences for graduate students and practicum students. Some graduate assistantships are available through WIND. Graduate students interested in Disabilities are urged to contact WIND for information.

Course: "Introduction to Disabilities" (3 credits)

Description: Overview of Disabilities and Disabilities Issues, especially values, consumer and family perspectives, community movement.

Targeted Students: Undergraduate juniors and seniors from any discipline

Course: "Diversity Within Communities" (3 credits)

Description: The course examines the ways humans respond to individual differences and commonalities within communities and explores how that interaction affects community life, environments, family life, personal growth, teaching/learning, media and the arts. Prejudice and oppression are also examined. Topic areas include ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability.

Targeted Students: Undergraduate juniors and seniors from any discipline
