Mental Health Issues Often Undiagnosed In Those With Disabilities

As many as half of all children with developmental disabilities may also have mental health issues, which often go undiagnosed, experts say.
In many cases, outside issues like anxiety, depression or obsessive tendencies are attributed to the person's disability rather than identified as a separate diagnosis. What's more, if a person is nonverbal or unable to communicate it can be difficult to identify mental health concerns.
But a movement is Canada is working to better identify those with "dual diagnosis" to improve treatment, reports The (Toronto) Globe and Mail.
