Beth Mineo Named New Director of the Center for Disabilities Studies (DE UCEDD)

Beth Mineo, PhD, has accepted the position of director of the Center for Disabilities Studies at the University of Delaware effective September 1, 2008. Her appointment was announced by Michael Gamel-McCormick, interim dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy (CHEPP).

Dr. Mineo is a scientist at the university's Center for Applied Science and Engineering, a multidisciplinary center focused on the intersection of technology and disability, where she also is director of the Delaware Assistive Technology Initiative (DATI). In addition, Dr. Mineo is a faculty member in the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the university. She has published extensively on the topics of assistive technology, accessible teaching materials, and accessible housing. Dr. Mieo has been responsible for initiating and supporting the concentration in speech-language pathology at the University of Delaware, as well as teaching numerous courses in the area of language development, assistive technology, and communication disorders.
