Leonard Abbeduto, PhD, (Waisman Center: WI UCEDD/LEND/IDDRC) Honored with Named Professorship and Research Award

He also has been honored for his research with a Kellett Mid-Career Award. The award, which includes $60,000 in unrestricted research support, is given annually by the Graduate School. The award recognizes faculty with five to 20 years of work beyond his or her first promotion to a tenured position. Supported by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), the award is named for William R. Kellett, a former president of the WARF board of trustees and retired president of Kimberly-Clark Corp.
Abbeduto, Department of Educational Psychology, is considered one of the leading scholars investigating the language problems of children with fragile X syndrome, the most common inherited cause of intellectual disabilities. He received a Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996 and is a past chair of the Department of Educational Psychology.
