External Partners Group: NCBDDD FY09 Appropriations Request

February 2, 2008

The External Partners Group (EPG) Executive Committee has developed the following one page fact sheet, appropriations request, and report language as part of it's advocacy strategy to increase funding for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). This year the EPG is requesting that Congress provide an overall increase of $20 million to the NCBDDD; included within that increase is a request for a $5 million new line item initiative for the NCBDDD to expand and coordinate research and develop public education campaigns on racial and ethnic disparities targeted at birth defects, enhancing the quality of life, and preventing secondary conditions among people who are living with mental or physical disabilities.
