National Disability Association Adds New Senior Policy Analyst to Legislative Affairs Team

SILVER SPRING, MD (November 12, 2005) – The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is pleased to announce that Lisa D. Ekman has been hired to work on the legislative affairs team as Senior Policy Analyst. Lisa has extensive public policy experience and a demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities having worked for more than six years on disability policy both on the Hill and for the Social Security Administration. She joins AUCD on November 14, 2005.
Prior to coming to AUCD, Ekman worked for the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee on detail from the Social Security Administration where she worked with disability policy staff to achieve bipartisan consensus on several issues important to the disability community, including long term care legislation. She also worked as a legislative fellow on disability in the offices of Senator Jim Jeffords (I-VT) and Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA). She served as policy analyst for the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Advisory Panel of the Social Security Administration. In addition, Ekman worked on state legislative issues while on staff of the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) at their Colorado headquarters.

These skills will serve her well here at AUCD."
