AUCD issued a letter to Chairmwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) of the House Education & Workforce Committee regarding the Promoting Real Opportunity, Success, and Prosperity through Education Reform (PROSPER) Act (H.R. 4508). The PROSPER Act would reauthorize the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) and the letter expresses AUCD's position on policy stances taken within the bill.

AUCD is pleased to see that H.R. 4508 continues Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSIDs) but is disappointed that it eliminates several critical programs that support students with disabilities. The letter also suggests technical changes that could be made to the legislation.

AUCD also submitted a letter to Ranking Member Scott expressing support for the Improve Access to Higher Education amendment to the bill. This amendment helps sustain TPSIDs for the future.
