A bill summary and fact sheet are available for the Improving Access to Higher Education Act, which would amend the Higher Education Act (HEA) to improve college access and completion for students with disabilities.

The bill strengthens inclusive higher education in many ways. It requires institutions of higher education to establish an office of accessibility for students with disabilities and train faculty, staff and administrators in teaching methods, accommodations, and transition practices. If passed, the legislation would also increase accessible instructional materials and expand resources for existing Transition to Postsecondary Education (TPSID) Programs. Additionally, it would support implementation of universal design for learning (UDL) guidelines in higher education institutions and would improve data collection related to postsecondary education for students with disabilities.
