MCH Awards: Call for Nominations

This is a solicitation for nominations for the following Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Awards which will be presented at the 2007 MCH Federal/State Partnership meeting entitled "Building Blocks 4 Promising Practice Models" on October 14-17 in Alexandria, VA. 

Director's Award
The Director's Award will be presented to an individual for noteworthy national level contributions made to the health of infants, mothers, children, adolescents and children with special health care needs.  Nominations for this award can be made by anyone in or out of the MCH program sphere.

Vince Hutchins Partnership Award
In honor of Dr. Vince L. Hutchins, this award will be presented to an outstanding individual that exemplifies skills in partnership and collaboration in MCH programs.  Nominations for this award can be made by anyone in or out of the MCH program sphere.  The recipient will receive an individual award and will be recognized on a plaque to be displayed at the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, located in Rockville, MD.

General Instructions

  • A brief paragraph typed (Min 250 words & Max 400 words)
  • No more than 1 page
  • 12 pt Font, New Times Roman
  • 1 inch Margins

Award Eligibility

  • Individuals at any level working in or have worked in the MCH field
  • Individuals with at least five years of experience working in the MCH field

Award Criteria
Director's Award

  • Describe in detail one national level contribution within the last 5 years the individual has made to improve the health of infants, mothers, children, adolescents and/or CSHCN, i.e.:
    • An innovation resulted in a significant economic or other highly desirable benefit or a creative effort that resulted in an important contribution to MCH
    • Acts of courage or heroism resulting in the preservation of lives or health (i.e. hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, terrorism, outbreaks and etc)
    • Accomplishment of mission objectives of MCH in a superior way
  • Describe in general other major contributions made toward building blocks in MCH on a national level throughout the individual's career.

Vince Hutchins Award

  • An outstanding individual that exemplifies skills in partnership and collaboration in MCH programs (local, state or national), i.e.:
    • Through partnership and collaboration, this individual provided distinguished service for outstanding achievements that had a major impact on improving the MCH populations or for services that significantly advanced MCH's mission and goals at a local, state or national level
    • Developed partnerships that included a diversity of collaborative partners (traditional and/or nontraditional) which led to advancement in one or more MCH population at a local, state or national level
  • A trailblazer of sorts who also has a lifetime of contributions towards the building blocks of MCH (MCH Pioneer).
