AUCD signed onto a letter urging members of the House of Representatives to oppose the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) Act, which restricts the Department of Education from limiting the number of eligible students who receive Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP) scholarships to D.C. voucher schools. The private schools that participate in the program are not subject to all federal civil rights laws and do not face the same accountability standards as public schools, including those in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
