Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit

April 20, 2016

Recently, AUCD rolled out its Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit. The Toolkit is a website that provides concrete objectives, strategies, and resources to help you realize your goals related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural and linguistic competence. Strategies and resources are aligned with the roles of three specific audiences, one of which, university-based centers, is designed to cater directly to Leadership in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) and University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (UCEDD) programs.

The Toolkit was featured at the recent UCEDD TA Institute, where UCEDD directors had the opportunity to explore its contents and resources in-depth. The general consensus was that the Toolkit and its resources were excellent. Said one director, "This is so useful. I can't wait to take this back to my center." In particular, participants found the breadth and flexibility of the Toolkit useful. Many centers and programs have different needs, and the Toolkit can be used to approach those needs in an individualized way.

The Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit is divided into five themes and 14 objectives. Those themes cover everything from the infrastructure needed to establish a solid foundation for diversity and inclusion to how to fund your efforts. New resources and content are added on a monthly and bi-monthly basis, so please check back regularly to learn more.
