Sandy Root-Elledge Named Executive Director of the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WY UCEDD)

University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences Dean Dr. Joseph Steiner announced Sandy Root-Elledge, a skilled administrator and advocate for persons with disabilities, has been selected as the new Executive Director of WIND, slated to begin her post this month.

"I am very pleased that we have been able to take the ‘Interim' off the title of ‘Executive Director' for Sandy," Dr. Steiner said. "She has expanded WIND's involvement in Wyoming, nationally and internationally. Her developing an ECHO Institute^TM superhub is a great example of this. I have enjoyed working with Sandy in the past, am looking forward to working with her in the future, and know we can expect to see great things coming."

Originally hired in 2004 as the coordinator of community education, Sandy now directs Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources, the state's Assistive Technology Act program, University of Wyoming ECHO, the Wyoming Family to Family Health Information Center, and the Wyoming Accessibility Center which provides services designed to increase access to information and community for individuals with disabilities.

As the parent of two adult-age children with disabilities, Dr. Root-Elledge brings the family perspective to her work and partnerships with state agencies and organizations, including the Wyoming Departments of Health, Workforce Services, Education, and the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities.
