Gov. Daugaard to Speak at USD Center for Disabilities Symposium in Sioux Falls (SD UCEDD/LEND)

April 5, 2016

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak about his Ability for Hire initiative at the University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities Symposium during the employers' breakfast on April 19 at the Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center.

Keynote speaker Randy Lewis, former Walgreen's executive who created an employment model that resulted in 10 percent of Walgreen's workforce consisting of individuals with disabilities, will also speak and hold individual sessions with employers at the breakfast.

"Employers need workers and people with disabilities want to work," said Wendy Parent-Johnson, Center for Disabilities executive director. "You can find great employees by tapping into an underused workforce, and Gov. Daugaard and Randy Lewis will tell us how."

The symposium was developed for direct service providers, advocates, families of individuals with disabilities, educators, employment specialists, community support specialists, case managers, counselors, employers and anyone who is interested in programs and services that cover the life course of a person with a disability.
