AUCD signed on to a CCD letter in support of the Mental Health Reform Act of 2016 (S. 2680), which would expand critical community mental health services, as well as services available to enrolled students. The bill takes a positive approach toward mental health reform by stressing the importance of reduced hospitalization and incarceration while avoiding harmful changes to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Protection and Advocacy (P&A)'s Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI) program.
