AUCD Joins The National Disability Mentoring Coalition to Improve Outcomes for Individuals with Disabilities

October 12, 2015

Mentoring can be an important part of career and life development, providing a young person with a relationship with an experienced associate to help them address challenges and celebrate successes. Research shows that mentoring works; mentoring helps people with and without disabilities to increase their self-esteem and professional effectiveness, and expand their professional resources.

AUCD is pleased to be a part of the National Disability Mentoring Coalition (NDMC), an organization which increases the awareness, quality and impact of mentoring for individuals with disabilities across the nation. Member organizations work to increase mentoring opportunities and improve outcomes for youth and adults with disabilities. Tanisha Clarke, MPH, represents AUCD on the Coalition.

Coalition members include: American Association of People with Disabilities, Association of University Centers on Disabilities, Broad Futures, Career Opportunities for Students with Disabilities, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, D.C.
